Back on Track

Well, it took nearly a month but we are back on track with the house (and our marriage, if we’re being honest. It is so tough working separate schedules! We’ve said it before, but we really have to work to make the most of the time we have together (and also to avoid talking about bills and chores every chance we get when we really need to just laugh and enjoy each other). Anyway, we are happy to say that we’ve taken the time this month to step back, once again, and see the big picture. We are full of love for one another as we come up on our one year anniversary this October!).

You didn’t miss much on the house front because, as I’ve come to learn, prep-work is boring. And tedious. It’s also incredibly boring…

Over the past few weeks (and in no particular order), we’ve primed wood trim, washed walls, painted closets, painted ceilings, invited BathMasters in to re-glaze our tub, picked paint colors, removed remaining wallpaper, finished the wood floors (Freddy did a BEAUTIFUL job!), welcomed Wagner Electrical Service in for some electrical updates, had our chimney repaired by Kent Chimney, picked up a few tile samples, and found some time for yard work as well.

We had my parents over for another weekend and are grateful for everything they’ve done to help us! They spent all weekend doing that incredibly boring, tedious work and had to leave right before we started painting (the fun part).

Mom and dad (and friends), here’s what we got through:

This is “Weeping Willow” in Freddy’s music room, seen here with my walk-in shoe closet – Haha. And if it just so happens to be the perfect “baby room” green somewhere down the road, we’ll consider ourselves lucky… for now, it’s the music room!:

The guest room color, “Filtered Shade,” is PERFECT! I wanted a warm gray that we’ll accent with turquoise, creams, and natural materials. It’s pretty difficult to photograph, but trust me… it’s beautiful!:

We wanted something a little darker for our bedroom and ended up with “Spiced Vinegar”:

And some other fun updates to round out the post:

Re-glazed tub, “Blue Shamrock” in the family room (no more ceiling paper or wood paneling!), & His & Hers Closets painted!
